For the perfect base it's essential to make sure your pre-wedding hands are well maintained and hydrated whilst keeping those cuticles up to scratch.

Lavender is a pretty shade for a feminine finish, and an added splash of colour, to the bridal look. Or a more daring bold white varnish sets off that all-white gown. Its statement brightness won't go unnoticed and will look super-chic pared with Sixties-style make-up and geometric designs.

Simple, elegant, sophisticated – 'griege' has become the ultimate shade for ladies this year. Unobtrusive at first sight, this out-of-the-ordinary nude will make a big impact on your special day and its solid colour will elongate the look of your nail length.

But the big star of manicures will always be the classic French polish which offers the perfect base in bridal pinks and creams.

Neutral colours keep the overall bridal look demure, but a twist to the traditional formula features a bright blue crescent for an alternative edge,  whilst tips in burgundy are perfect for those late autumn/winter weddings.

For a wedding day manicure that will last until you're back from honeymoon make sure you invest in a gel-based formula which will leave you worry and chip-free.
