The 30 most beautiful wedding dresses in New York

Every April, New York Bridal Week sets the trends of the season by inviting some of the biggest names in bridal design to launch their newest creations on the catwalk.

A major milestone in the wedding planner's year, it's during this crucial month that the cuts of necklines and skirts, fabrics and colours are decided on for the season ahead.

Among some of the best designers in the New York show was the legendary Oscar de la Renta and the effortlessly feminine Marchesa whom Blake Lively picked for her wedding day last September.

Go-to celebrity bridal designer, Vera Wang, also produced an impressive collection of ivory frocks in 2012 after a season of colourful wedding creations. The American designer has worked with some of the world's best known brides and was the big day choice for former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham and actress Jennifer Garner.

Wide princess skirts, lace sleeves and beaded embellishments were some of the biggest trends brought to us in 2012. We take a look back with a selection of the 30 most beautiful dresses from the runway...

Marchesa and Jenny Packham led the way for slim-fitted skirts and high-necked designs. Although the fit was demure, the drama was all in the detail of the dresses' beaded embellishments

Carolina Herrera is known for dressing her brides in the most feminine of cuts. And, in 2012, it came as no surprise when the catwalk was filled with strapless designs and full skirts in ivory white tulle and sumptuous silks

Alice Temperley for Temperley London added a touch of vintage to her collection of dresses in 2012 with lace sleeves but kept the fit modern with a backless feature and flowing slim-fitted cut

The magical world of Claire Pettibone offered brides looking for an outdoor wedding ethereal designs full of flowers and embroidered colour accents in delicate pinks, yellows and greens

Colour was also the feature of Oscar de la Renta's 2012 collection as he lauched a range of feminine cuts that were both new and blue for a twist of the traditional wedding design
