Congratulations are in order for Jerry Hall and Rupert Murdoch, who have tied the knot after a whirlwind five-month romance. The couple said their vows in a low-key civil service in London on Friday afternoon.

Jerry and Rupert married at Spencer House, an 18th century aristocratic palace in London. The bride looked chic in a navy dress and white trench coat with her hair down in loose waves, and appeared blissfully happy as she greeted the press who had waited outside for her arrival.

Meanwhile Rupert looked smart in a navy suit and blue tie and held hands with his new bride as they left the civil service. It is thought that Rupert's daughter Elisabeth Murdoch acted as a witness as she was also spotted leaving the venue after her father.

Following the nuptials Rupert tweeted to say he felt like the "luckiest and happiest man in the world", and said he wouldn't be on the social networking site for the next ten days as he celebrated his wedding.

While Friday's ceremony was incredibly low-key, the newlyweds will celebrate with around 120 of their friends and family members over the weekend. They will have a wedding blessing at St. Bride's Church on London's Fleet Street – a fitting venue for the press baron as it is known as "the spiritual home of the media".

Along with their children – Rupert has six and Jerry has four from their previous relationships – the newlyweds are likely to be joined by a number of high profile guests including Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman, who are godparents to Rupert's daughters Grace and Chloe. It is also reported that Jerry and Rupert's daughters will all have a special role in the ceremony, acting as bridesmaids for the wedding blessing at St Bride's Church.

One friend who is disappointed to be missing the nuptials is Dame Joan Collins, who told HELLO! magazine that Jerry had "an unmistakeable glow" after confiding that she had become engaged to Rupert in December.

"Well Jerry – I kept the secret – and despite being sad I cannot be there to celebrate with you, I'm wishing that radiant glow stays with you forever," Dame Joan said.

Jerry, 59, and Rupert, 84, were introduced by Rupert's niece Penny Fowler in Australia late last summer. They confirmed their romance at the Rugby World Cup Final in October, and made their first red carpet appearance at the Golden Globes in January, before announcing their engagement in The Times newspaper the following day.
