Bridal accessories: this season's vintage-inspired pieces

Finding the perfect wedding dress is every bride's priority, but the gown would be nothing without the right accessories to match.

HELLO! Online has spoken to three bespoke wedding designers to find out which bridal accessories are in fashion, and the trio concluded that a vintage 1920s look, inspired by The Great Gatsby, is still the hottest look for the season.

Not all brides want the classic fairytale look on their wedding day as founder of Olivier Laudus, Sangeeta Laudus, points out.

"We think brides will try to inject some jazz-age glamour to their wedding day style, with bejewelled ribbon headbands, feather clips and art deco earrings and cuffs," said Sangeeta.

The elegant collection at Olivier Laudus reflects the trend that brides are becoming more daring in their choice of accessories. "Interestingly enough, necklines have also become lower, which we think will lead to more statement necklaces and long pendants," said Sangeeta.

Headpieces are popping up this season, and HELLO! Online were particularly drawn to the gorgeous collection by Silver Sixpence in her Shoe. The designer's bridal accessories are stunning, but the floral and lace headpieces stand out as the perfect accessories. "At the moment it is definitely all about lace and the 1920s," said founder Nicola Wellard. "As you can see I have tried to incorporate both these into my work, alongside moving into the floral trend. "She gave some good words of advice for brides-to-be and recommended buying the accessories after the dress. "Leave plenty of time so as not to panic buy, or feel pressured into choosing something available at the shop where your dress is," said Nicola. "It is very similar to choosing your gown — you may not realise what actually suits you until you try it on. There are so many avenues for brides to explore now with online shopping. The world is your oyster."

Siu Coll of Liberty in Love  agrees, and recommends wearing stylish headpieces for the big day. She gave HELLO! Online an insight into how the Art Deco style is topping the season, from all types of accessories from headpieces to dancing shoes, which feature platinum glitter and embellishment. "This year, we see the rise of Art Deco," said Siu. "To complement feminine drop-waisted dresses, pick one or two statement Art Deco accessories."

"For me, part of the appeal of the Art Deco aesthetic is its wearability and versatility," she said. "It can be beautifully classic or fashion forward, depending on how you style the accessories."
