Hollywood writer David Mills has died at the age of 48 after suffering a brain aneurysm, HBO has announced.
The Emmy Award winner - who contributed to George Clooney's rise to fame with ER, and hit drama The Wire - fell ill on the set of a new upcoming show in New Orleans on Tuesday night.
He lost consciousness and passed away in hospital.
"HBO is deeply saddened by the sudden loss of our dear friend and colleague David Mills," HBO said in a statement.
"He was a gracious and humble man, and will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him, as well as those who were aware of his immense talent."
David is survived by siblings Blanche Carroll, Gloria Johnson and Franklin Mills.
