There were fresh fears for Zsa Zsa Gabor as she was rushed to hospital in LA on Wednesday.
The 93-year-old's husband Frederic Prinz von Anhalt called for an ambulance after she began coughing up blood.
He told reporters his wife has a high fever, fluid in her lungs and an infection which developed after she had much of her right leg amputated last month.
Zsa Zsa has had problems with her memory and recognising people since her surgery, leading doctors to suggest she may have suffered a stroke during the procedure.
Frederic said: "I don't know what to do. My poor girl, she is in so much pain. It is too much up and down with her, she can't take it anymore."
