Pierce Brosnan has revealed that he still struggles with the death of his first wife, Cassandra Harris.
The actor, 59, who starred in 2012 film Love Is All You Need as a widower who falls in love with a woman battling cancer, said the role brought back memories of his own wife's battle with ovarian cancer 22 years ago.
He told the Daily Mail: "I went through it all, very publicly. Such things draw a mark across your heart and it's always a part of your life.
"To watch someone you love have their life eaten away becomes an indelible part of your psyche. It certainly did for me and when I received this script, the challenge of playing this part was not lost on me”"
Pierce has since remarried with journalist Keely Shave Smith, and the couple have gone on to have two sons together, Dylan, 16, and Paris, 12.
"Keely has always been kind and compassionate and encouraged me to mourn Cassie. I suppose Keely is my North Star, always looking out for me."
