Cuban-born dancer Carlos Acosta is just one of the Royal Ballet students to feature in a series of exquisite behind-the-scenes images in a new book.
Dancers, by Andrej Upenski, who is a Royal Ballet dancer himself, follows the process from first rehearsal to final performance.
"[Dancers] are very strong-minded people," says Carlos. "We learn to control the struggle. You wake up every single day to hammer your body. It does something to you."
"The most important aspect is discipline," says Andrej. "You have to push yourself to the limit every day."
