Nick Clegg's Spanish wife shows her British colours

Monday May 3, 2010

Miriam Gonzalez Durantez is certainly proud of her Spanish roots.

Despite working and living with her husband – Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg – in the UK, she championed her heritage by choosing traditional Spanish names for the couple's three sons, Antonio Alberto and Miguel.

But, it seems, the brunette lawyer is just as fond of her adopted homeland.

Braving the famous British rain, Miriam kept herself sheltered with a very patriotic umbrella featuring the Union Jack.

Perhaps sensing the irony, she stepped out in London with a big smile on her face touting the colourful brolly.

The following day, Miriam was spotted by her spouse's side as Nick campaigned on Blackheath Common ahead of the UK's May 6 general election.
