To kick off the live shows, this year’s X Factor will start with an 1980s extravanganza. The contestants will be donning leg-warmers and shoulder pads to belt out some of the '80s best tunes for the judges and the audiences at home.
This year there will be a new twist for the live shows, a flash vote.
The flash vote will take place after every contestant has performed. The voting lines will open for under ten minutes, giving viewers the opportunity to save their favourite act from being in the bottom two.
After the lines are closed the votes will be counted and the act with the lowest votes will be told that they will have to perform in the sing off on the following evening. Voting lines for the remaining contestants will re-open until the Sunday night when the second contestant to face the sing-off will be revealed.
Dermot O’Leary will be presenting the show for the sixth consecutive year. Judges Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow and Nicole Scherzinger will be joined by the returning judge Sharon Osbourne for the exciting new process.
