It was the drama that gripped a nation – and now Broadchurch is set to intrigue American audiences with the news that David Tennant has been cast in a US adaptation.
The actor, 42, originally played Detective Alec Hardy in the British crime drama and will now be taking on a role very similar to the ITV series, which drew an audience of 10 million for its finale.
David will again play the lead male detective in the investigation when a child is found below a cliff in a coastal town.
This time though, his character will be American.
The US version will start shooting in January 2014, and will air on Fox either later that year or in early 2015.
UK fans of the show needn't worry – creator Chris Chibnall is currently writing a second series for ITV.
Olivia Colman, Arthur Darvill, who played Revered Paul Coates, and Simone McAullay, hotelier Becca Fisher, have all confirmed they have been asked back.
So far, David has not confirmed whether or not he is returning.
