King Juan Carlos of Spain has been discharged from hospital after undergoing reconstructive hip surgery.
The monarch was seen joking with journalists outside the hospital that he would "take it very easy" after the operation.
A hospital statement said that the 74-year-old had "very satisfactorily complete his first phase of rehabilitation". The head of state was flown back in April from a controversial safari in Botswana after fracturing his right hip joint.
The King has had several health issues in the past two years, leading to a knee operation and the removal of a benign lung tumour.
