Cheryl Baker of Bucks Fizz and X Factor winner Joe McElderry will compete in the final of ITV1's Popstar To Operastar show next week after surviving Sunday's semi final.
Toploader's Joseph Washbourn and Steps singer Claire Richards went out as a result of the public vote.
As well as their solo performances, this week saw the final four teaming up for some memorable opera duets.
They also had a guest judge in the shape of Alfie Boe, who was standing in for mentor Rolando Villazon.
Cheryl impressed the panel with her rendition of Un Bel Di Vedremo.
Katherine Jenkins told her: "I thought you really got into character, I love watching you sing, there is something about you that makes me smile."
Joe sang Granada by Lara, and received great praise from judge Simon Callow, who said: "I think you gave Rolando a run for his money."
Cheryl and Joe also teamed up for a duet, while Claire and Joseph sang Time To Say Goodbye together.
They both received praise for their individual performances.
Alfie told Claire her version of Der Holle Rache from The Magic Flute was "a boe-delicious performance".
But it was not enough to save her, and Claire said of her exit: "I'm going to miss it, it's been so nice to be singing again.
"It's nice that the kids are going to know that I don't just stay at home and be a mummy."
Despite giving his best performance on The Champagne Aria from Don Giovanni, Joseph also left the show.
He said: "I don't think my heart was going to stand any more. I've had an amazing time. I'm happy to go back to my day job for the next couple of weeks."
