Crown Princess Masako made her second public appearance of the year this Friday, attending a dance show marking the National Arts Festival with her husband Prince Naruhito of Japan.
The 46-year-old princess has suffered in recent years from what the Imperial Household term an "adjustment disorder".
Finding it hard to adapt to royal life, she rarely emerges in public. However, last week she was beaming broadly as she sat with her husband.
Prince Naruhito has proved a great support to the princess, saying last year: "My wife needs time to resume her duties."
"She does everything she can to meet her schedules and attend as many official engagements as she can. I would ask the Japanese people to understand the situation."
