Susan Boyle has revealed for the first time the heartache she suffered in her late twenties, as a result of her father.
In her autobiography, The Woman I Was Born To Be, the singer describes how her first romance lasted only seven weeks.
She said: "It was a chaste relationship that never went further than holding hands and a peck on the cheek."
"I was upstairs when the phone rang. My father got it first. 'She doesnae want to talk to you,' he said and put down the receiver."
The 49-year-old Scot was told by her dad that she was not ready to have a boyfriend.
"He wanted to protect me but it did hurt when we stopped seeing each other," she says in the book, which is released on October 14.
