Hot on the heels of London and Milan's fashion weeks came the round of Paris catwalk presentations, which kicked off this week.
Leading the way at the start of the ready-to-wear shows was Balmain, whose head designer Christophe Decarnin presented a particularly decadent collection.
Standout pieces included a dramatic gold leather dress, slashed to the navel and dripping gold beads and sequins – likely to make an appearance at the Oscars.
There was more gold, in the form of the hallmark oversize-shouldered Balmain jackets and spray on leggings.
Elsewhere huge fox jackets make an impact, as did leopard print coats teamed with sequinned trousers.
