TV star Melanie Sykes was granted a divorce from her actor husband Daniel Caltagirone on Thursday.
The 38-year-old brunette, who separated from her husband last year, received a decree nisi in a quick hearing at London's High Court after her lawyers successfully argued Mr Caltagirone's "unreasonable behaviour" in failing to recognise the financial problems which led to the breakdown of their eight-year marriage. Neither Melanie nor Daniel were in attendance.
Papers have revealed the former model – who separated from her husband, with whom she has two sons, last July – had been left distressed by Daniel's failure to appreciate their financial circumstances.
The unexpected axing of Mel's talk show with Des O'Connor in 2006 is understood to have exacerbated things.
"The distress I felt at the respondent's failure to appreciate our financial situation is still with me and not likely to abate until our finances are severed following divorce," Melanie writes in the divorce papers.
Since splitting from Daniel, an Italian actor whom she married in January 2001 in Mustique, the Manchester-born beauty has been spotted with a new man, whose identity she's yet to reveal.
