Leonard Nimoy has revealed on Twitter that despite quitting smoking 30 years ago, he has developed a lung disease.
“I quit smoking 30yrs ago,” he tweeted. “Not soon enough. I have COPD. Grandpa says, quit now!! LLAP.”
The 82-year-old suffers from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) which causes increasing breathing difficulties.
Leonard had kept busy despite his illness, making a cameo in 2013’s Star Trek Into Darkness as Mr Spock, the character he has played since 1966.
However, fans were aware that he was in a frail condition after he was recently photographed being pushed in a wheelchair at a New York hospital, attached to breathing apparatus.
