Several high profile ladies have signed an open letter calling for action from the UK Government to protect women and children from sexual attacks in war situations.
Victoria Beckham, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Claudia Schiffer and J.K. Rowling are among those who have added their name to the petition.
“I have signed this letter with @UNICEF_uk & other women calling for an end to sexual violence in conflict,” Victoria tweeted.
The stars are encouraging people to sign the letter leading up to International Woman’s Day on 8 March.
“In war zones sexual violence is as devastating as bullets and bombs,” the letter reads.
“Sexual violence in conflict is preventable, not inevitable. Together we can end this”.
International Women’s Day was established in 1911, and has been fundamental in the fight for gender equality over the years.
