In an emotional private screening of Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince, family and friends watched with "sorrow and pride" as they saw the final scenes of teenager Robert Knox, who was killed last May.
Eighteen-year-old Robert, who played Hogwarts student Marcus Belby in the movie, had already signed up to star in the next Potter film when he died after being stabbed outside a bar in Sidcup.
"I held myself together until the credits rolled. But when I saw his name up there, that was it. I buckled." The actor's dad Colin said.
"Everyone burst into applause. It was for Robert, as though he'd been waiting for that moment of acclamation."
"It's so sad knowing he'll never see it. He was so unbelievably proud to have got the part. He loved every minute of it. And he never got to see the fruits of his labour."
On Tuesday Robert's immediate family will join Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson at the film's world premiere in London.
