Lady Gaga has been awarded a share in the bilenial peace prize which was created in the memory of John Lennon.
The LennonOno Grant For Peace will be be given to the star in a ceremony in Reykjavik, Iceland, on October 9, the date of John's son Sean's birthday.
Peace activist and widow of John Lennon Yoko Ono will award the prize.
Lady Gaga will join the late Christopher Hitchens and Pussy Riot amongst others in collecting the prize.
Yoko Ono could not be happier with the selection.
She said: "Lady Gaga is one of the biggest living artists of our time. She is not only an artist, she is also an activist, using her art to bring better communication to the world."
"She is being acknowledged for her activism, and how her album Born This Way has widely changed the mental map of the world. And how it has made us deal with the future world, which happens to be here already."
Lady Gaga will also receive a charitable donation, which will be given to the Elton John's AIDS Foundation.
