Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet has been named the European Actress of the Year at the European Film Awards.
The actress was given the nod for her role in Roman Polanski's Carnage, which follows two sets of parents confronting each other in one room about one of their sons bullying the other, and also stars John C Reilly, Jodie Foster and Christoph Waltz.
Tinker Tailer Soldier Spy's Gary Oldman and Shame's Michael Fassbender are also battling it out for the best actor prize, whilst movie icon Steve McQueen is up for the best directing award.
Dame Helen Mirren will be presented with the European achievement in world cinema 2012 gong for her "outstanding body" of work at the ceremony, which will take place in Malta on December 1.
