Peaches Geldof has said that giving birth to her son became her own rebirth as it made her a better person.
The former wild child has opened up to Elle magazine about the difficulties she faced during Sir Bob Geldof and Paula Yates' divorce and her mother's death, which occured when the 23-year-old star was 11.
Now declaring herself a reformed character, Peaches is mother to seven-month-old Astala, and in a HELLO! exclusive, married rocker Tom Cohen in September.
She told the magazine: "For so much of my life I felt old and jaded, even though I was a teenager. Being with Tom, having Astala, a big thing for me is I actually feel young.
"His birth was like a rebirth for me, and I honestly never thought anything in my life would ever be good. I'm obsessed with getting it right. The second I held him it was like this missing piece of my life being put into place; everything started to heal."
The star previously married musician Max Drummey in 2010 in Las Vegas, and went on to divorce him. Now, Peaches says, she has truly started to realise the meaning of marriage.
She said: "What I learned from my first marriage is the sanctity of it. I regret that I hurt my friend and I hurt myself because of it. If you do it wrong, you want to make sure you do it right the next time.
"The very worst thing that happened to me started with my parents' divorce; it really affected the rest of my life. Even if it's an archaic idea I want Astala to have a mummy and daddy together forever. It's a commitment. I want to be a good wife, a good mother, a good person."
