British funnyman Russell Brand has confirmed his engagement to US singer Katy Perry.
The couple, who have only been dating for four months, shocked friends and family with their happy news as they holidayed in India over the festive season.
It seems comedian Russell put a great deal of thought into the proposal itself.
The 34-year-old popped the question at the luxury Taj Rambagh Palace Hotel on New Year's Eve.
Earlier in the day he had bought Katy a £600 traditional Indian dress to wear on the night.
"We set a table in the garden with candles everywhere. They arrived in a horse and carriage with a glass of champagne and we served them dinner," a hotel staff member reveals.
"Mr Brand had given his butler the diamond ring to hide among the flowers. Miss Perry found it, he proposed, and she immediately said 'yes'."
And the lovestruck pair are wasting no time in making it official. Russell has already appointed manager Nick Linnen as his best man and asked him to get started on the speech.
"They've decided they won't be messing about and have already made a start on the plans for the big day," a source tells the Sun.
