Robbie Williams has said that X Factor star Gary Barlow will get even more competitive as the show reaches the final stages.
The Angels singer is helping his Take That bandmate select the final four in the boys category at the judges' houses stage in LA.
And he told The Sun that Gary will be a devoted mentor.
"In this Gary is competitive - because it is music," Robbie said.
"I think we will also see a change in his behaviour as he becomes more competitive as the show goes on."
"As a mentor he is going to be full on," he added.
"He's going to be closer than anyone has been in the past. I think that is what's needed.
"Previously judges maybe gave the acts half an hour if they were lucky.
"The ones that are going to make it need help, need a guiding arm put around them."
Gary has said it was easy for him to choose who to help him mentor his finalists as Robbie is such a fan of the show.
He said: "I knew he loved the show. He watches all reality TV… He loves it, so I knew he was a big fan of The X Factor.
"He was like, 'Please let me'. Then he invited me to his house, to stay while we do it."
Gary added: "I have a weekly schedule for the boys.
"And the good thing is pretty much when we get home from LA I have nothing in my diary other than this show.
"These boys are going to get a shock because I have a really high standard.
"This is my first year on the show so I want to look good, so people go, 'Wow.'"
