A new Channel 4 programme, due to be screened later this month, has caused something of a stir with its delicate subject matter.
The Taking of Prince Harry is a fictional account of what could happen if the third-in-line to the throne were kidnapped in Afghanistan.
At one point, the documentary shows the Prince, played by actor Sebastian Reid, pleading in a hostage video that all troops should be withdrawn from Afghanistan to meet his captors' demands.
In another scene an unloaded gun is pointed at his head and the trigger is pulled.
Dai Davis, a former head of head of Scotland Yard's royal policing squad, called the production "foolhardy, crass and stupid."
A Clarence House representative said: "We are not prepared to comment on this work of fiction."
