Fashion maestro Karl Lagerfeld unveiled his haute couture Spring/Summer 2011 collection in Paris on Tuesday.
The designer created ethereal looks with a palette of pastel pinks and silvery greys decorated with feathers and frills. These were combined with empire-line dresses and drop-waist full-length skirts to create a girlish yet Grecian glamour.
Another overriding theme appeared to be sparkle: nearly all outfits were embellished with crystals, embroidery and sequins.
Supporting Karl in the front row at the Grand Palais was Chanel regular Alexa Chung, who was joined by Diane Kruger and his muse Vanessa Paradis, who dressed casually for the occasion in denim.
American supermodel Kristen McMenamy took to the catwalk as a bride for the show finale. The 46-year-old is famous for having dared to go grey last year and her long, silver-grey hair matched the colour scheme of the collection perfectly.
The 77-year-old designer finished up surrounded by his models in what appeared to be a salute; perhaps a tribute to Paris, the city with which he has had so much fashion history.
