Fans wondering what to get Ringo Starr for his 70th birthday were given an easy option on Wednesday.
On his web site, the former Beatles drummer asked that on July 7 at noon, people all over the world put their fingers up in the peace sign to proclaim “Peace and Love”.
Looking sprightly as he enters his eighth decade, Ringo was joined by hundreds of supporters in Times Square, New York to do just that.
The message became a viral one too as fans shouted, texted and tweeted the mantra across the globe.
In honour of what has been hailed the “Peace and Love Event” the original Magical Mystery Tour bus was rolled out on Broadway to celebrate the occasion.
His birthday festivities didn’t end in Times Square, however.
In the evening the energetic 70-year old took to the stage at the famous Radio City Music Hall with his All Starr Band.
