The ex-wife of former vice-presidential candidate John Edwards passed away on Tuesday after a six-year battle with breast cancer.
The author was diagnosed with cancer in 2004 - days before her husband’s campaign was set to finish.
The couple ended their 32-year marriage in 2008 after revelations that he'd fathered a child during an affair.
Her family released a statement last night, detailing: “Elizabeth Anania Edwards, mother, author, advocate died today at her home in Chapel Hill, surrounded by her family.”
Not one to shy away from the matter, Elizabeth openly talked about her cancer battle in bestselling memoirs Resilience and Saving Graces.
