King Juan Carlos of Spain is "doing very well" after undergoing surgery at the weekend to remove a benign tumor from his right lung.
A nodule was discovered on the monarch's lung last month and now doctors have worked to "extract and study" the growth.
The 72-year-old – pictured with his family at Easter Mass last month – is "doing very well," said Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero.
"The operation, went very well and the prognosis is very good,” added the Spanish premier.
It is thought the monarch will be released from the hospital in a few days' time.
