The America's Got Talent judge took to her Twitter and Facebook pages on Tuesday to apologise for comments she made about Scottish singer Susan Boyle, who performed on the show's season finale.
"Susan Boyle is a lovely gracious woman and I took advantage of that by poking fun at her. I would never want to be responsible for hurting Susan and I must apologise for getting a cheap laugh at her expense," she wrote.
The statement comes after Sharon's appearance earlier this month on US radio programme, The Opie & Anthony Show.
During the show, she made comments about the singer's appearance.
Susan is "a lovely lady" who has been hit by "the ugly stick," said Sharon, before adding, "you just want to say, 'God bless and here's a Gilette razor.'"
