The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are to meet the three Walking With The Wounded teams about to depart on the South Pole challenge, at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday 13 November with Prince Harry.
Her Majesty and His Royal Highness will meet with the teams of wounded servicemen and women from the United Kingdom, The United States and the Commonwealth, ahead of their departure.
Prince Harry will be taking part in the 200 mile race as part of Team Glenfiddich, representing the UK. Actor Dominic West will form part of the Commonwealth team while American TV star Alexander Skarsgård will race for Team US.
The teams will set off on 1 December and are hoping to complete the challenge by 16 December. As part of the expedition the trekkers will walk for around 10 miles per day while pulling heavy sledges in temperatures as low as - 45°C.
