Heath Ledger's father has praised Michelle Williams, 32, for being a fantastic mother to his late son's daughter, Matilda.
Kim Ledger attended the Australians In Film Heath Ledger Scholarship dinner, and spoke proudly about his granddaughter.
"She's got daddy's eyes, and she's quite tall for her age," he said. "She's a beautiful child... Michelle [Williams] does a great job. She protects her the way that she can. She protects her from too much exposure, sending her to a lovely school; she's growing into a polite, beautiful individual," revealed the grandfather.
In memory of the Associations' late ambassador, the scholarship was established to help and praise Australian film makers in the spirit of Heath’s passion for film.
Heath's father said that he would love his granddaughter to get involved with the scholarship when she was older. "She'll grow up with it. I'd love for her to be a part of it," he said.
Kim spoke to the crowd at the scholarship dinner, admiring The Dark Night actor's endless generosity in helping new actors break into such a tough industry.
"I've had actors come up to me and say, 'You know if it wasn't for Heath giving us two or three months free of charge in his home, we would have never gotten a foot in the place'. It's one of those industries where everybody supports each other, since it's so hard to make a bite. Heath was subject to that when he first started in Sydney, then he repaid the favours tenfold," he eluded.
