With his co-star, Rachel Weisz, busy elsewhere, it was down to Jude Law to kick the London Film Festival off with a bang.
The dashing Brit brought his star power to London’s Leicester Square, where he was attending the screening of his new film, 360.
The Sherlock Holmes actor appears alongside Rachel as half of a couple whose marriage runs into trouble amid a tangled story of love and relationships.
They form part of an ensemble cast which also includes Sir Anthony Hopkins and rap star, Eminem.
Under gloomy skies, Jude was channelling one of his other characters, Sherlock Holmes's sidekick Dr Watson, with a smart grey suit topped off with a trilby.
He was joined on the red carpet by other international stars of the movie including Lucia Siposova, Moritz Bleibtreu and Gabriela Marcinkova.
360 is the work of Brazilian film-maker, Fernando Meirelles, who was delighted to be the opening act.
"I was quite shocked when we were invited because this is a small film and usually festivals open with big, bombastic films." he said.
"But of course I felt very happy and very proud."
The London Film Festival runs until October 27 and will feature 204 films, 13 world premieres and a host of stars from the film world.
