Ice staking duo Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean have ended years of speculation by admtiting they were once romantically involved.
Torvill and Dean, who mentor the hit ITV show Dancing On Ice, revealed the news during an interview with former Mirror editor Piers Morgan on his programme Piers Morgan's Life Stories.
The Olympic gold medallists, who have been skating together for 37 years, always maintained that their relationship was strictly professional.
But the pair have now confessed that, for a brief time, they did cross the line between friendship and romance.
Host Piers tweeted: "BREAKING NEWS 'Yes, we dabbled...' - @torvillanddean finally admit to a romantic past together, albeit a very short one... #LifeStories".
Jayne, 55, and Chris, 54, famously won gold for Britain with their Bolero routine at the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics. Two years ago, Jayne claimed they banned themselves from being anything more than friends, in case it affected their professional performance on the ice.
But Chris' first wife, fellow skater Isabelle Duchesnay, found his friendship with Jayne too much to cope with. He said: "She used to say there were three people in our marriage."
Jayne is now happily married to Phil Christensen, while Chris is dating Dancing On Ice judge Karen Barber.
