Barbara Walters has announced she is retiring next year, after more than 50 years in the business.
The 83-year-old TV presenter made the announcement on talk show The View, and was left wiping away tears after they played a taped piece summarising her career.
Barbara said she wanted to leave while people are still saying "why is she leaving?" instead of "why doesn't she leave?'"
She began her television career in 1961.
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg visited the set for Barbara's announcement, along with a host of top ABC and Disney executives.
