Miranda Kerr has recently revealed that her son, Flynn Christopher Blanchard Copeland Bloom, was named after her late boyfriend.
Her childhood sweetheart Christopher Middlebrook died in a tragic car crash.
In the supermodel's newly released book, Treasure Yourself, she described this difficult period in her life:
"We had been dating for two years, and I had just left Gunnedah [a remote town New South Wales, Australia] and moved to Brisbane when he was killed instantly in a car accident.
"All of a sudden it felt as though my world had fallen apart.
"Although we were only young, we had both talked about spending the rest of our lives together.
"I felt as if my heart had been ripped from my chest and I didn’t know what to do."
She told the Australian newspaper Daily Telegraph "After he died, I wrote him a letter that said I hoped to name my first child after him in some way."
When asked how her husband, Orlando Bloom, felt about the decision she replied, " "I told Orlando and he was the one who said he'd be happy to do that. Orlando's a good guy."
The Lord of the Rings hearthrob also named their first-born after someone special.
When Flynn was conceived, the actor suffered the loss of his beloved grandmother Evelynn.
Orlando revealed on US TV show Live with Regis and Kelly, "Evelyn was my grandmother, on my father's side ... I was thinking Evelyn.
"We're going to have a girl, it's going to be called Evelyn. And it was a boy. And so Flynn! Evelyn, Flynn. Flynn, Evelyn."
Miranda has said that their baby is doing well. “He looks exactly like Orlando did when he was a baby,” she said, “and his character is developing every day.
"He’s content and, even though he’s teething, you can see he’s calm.”
