Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas was released from a local police station at the weekend after spending eight hours in custody.
The 25-year-old was arrested on Friday evening following a row with ex-girlfriend Tina O'Brien, but was later allowed to return home without any charges.
It is thought the disagreement between Ryan and 26-year-old Tina concerned the couple's one-year-old daughter Scarlett.
The argument reportedly ensued while the former Corrie actress was picking up the little girl from Ryan's home in Cheadle Heath.
In a statement issued on Sunday evening, Ryan, who stars as Jason Grimshaw in the show, said: "I would like to make it clear that I have not assaulted and would never assault Tina."
"The police are satisfied this was the case and I was released without any action being taken."
Ryan and Tina, who met playing on-screen lovers on the soap, had been together for six years before splitting last month.
