Romania's Princess Lia becomes mother aged 60

Friday January 15, 2010

Princess Lia of Romania has given her husband, the pretender to the country's throne, the heir he has always yearned for.

The glamorous 60-year-old gave birth to the 4lb 9oz boy by Caesarean section in Bucharest this week.

And Detroit-born Lia - who made her mark on London society in the Nineties - labelled her newborn baby a "little miracle".

"We were blessed by fine doctors, here in Romania, in the US and in Harley Street in London,' the Princess tells the Daily Mail.

"There has been great joy here at the news, which has been quite humbling."

The baby will be christened Prince Carol Ferdinand.
