There was no way that Susan Boyle could have anticipated the worldwide level of fame she achieved so rapidly after her Britain's Got Talent audition.
And now, ten months after first singing I Dreamed A Dream on the talent show, the 48-year-old finally feels she has learnt to cope with her new status.
Susan – whose high-profile fans include Demi Moore – recently admitted: "I was like a scared child before, but I'm not the scared person I used to be."
"I had to learn how to deal with a lot of publicity, and the glare of attention – that takes a bit to get used to. But I got there in the end."
And the chart-topping Scottish star – who famously entered London's Priory clinic the day after the Britain's Got Talent final – has no regrets about stepping into the spotlight.
"I think I'm entertaining people," she told a US TV show.
"I'm inspiring a lot of people. What people have written to me about how much I have inspired them…I'd like to keep on doing that for as long as it lasts."
