Tennis legend Martina Navratilova was putting on a brave face this week as she joined ITV's Loose Women to discuss her breast cancer diagnosis.
The nine-times Wimbledon champion admitted it was harder going public with her condition, than it was having treatment.
"I'm doing just fine, it's just been difficult because when I decided to go public – I've done a lot of interviews and that's been actually more exhausting than my actual surgery that I had," she says.
The 53-year-old also used her TV appearance to encourage women to get themselves checked out.
"I just wanted to remind women to go and get their mammograms, because without it, by the time it turns into a lump, it's cancer everywhere. And so then the cure is much, much stronger and much more dangerous."
