Richard Branson throws the first pitch at Detroit baseball game

Tuesday June 16, 2015

Sir Richard Branson looked like a pro baseball player on the weekend, as he threw the first pitch at Detroit baseball game. Looking nervous as he pitched the ball, Richard later bowed towards the crowd as his ball was caught, as planned, by the fielder.

The appearance at the Detroit Tigers game was all part of Richard's promotion of the American city, famed for Motown music and America's automobile history.

The Virgin entrprenuer recently launched a direct flight from London to Detroit, the largest city in the American state of Michigan.

The airlines promotion also involved an impromptu performance by the cast of hot new London musical Memphis on the inaugural flight to the city.

Richard was persuaded to join in the singing, and he later said: "Our customers really enjoyed the surprise performance and it was a great way to celebrate the launch of our new service to Detroit."
