Rolf Harris and Status Quo team up for festive jingle

Tuesday November 17, 2009

It may seem an unlikely pairing, but, by the looks of things Rolf Harris and Rick Parfitt are having the time of their lives whilst recording a song together.

The Australian cartoonist has joined the Status Quo singer and guitarist to produce a Christmas single for this year.

The single, titled Christmas in the Sun, was inspired by Rolf's memories of growing up in Western Australia, where the ritual was eating roast turkey in the blazing heat.

And the 79-year-old says Rick "came up with musical surprises and guitar rhythms that sent shivers up and down my spine".

Rolf last entered the Christmas chart 40 years ago when his song, Two Little Boys, remained in the top spot for six weeks.

His new track, released on December 7, will go up against the new X Factor winner's song, which has been the season's number one hit for the last four years.
