Having conquered the music scene and with five film roles under her belt, Mariah Carey is a lady looking for new challenges. Now it's being reported that for her next project she will be treading the boards in London's West End.
According to a British paper, the 39-year-old Long Islander has been in the British capital for a series of meetings with a leading theatre producer who has offered her a £15,000-a week contract. She will make her debut on the stage next spring.
"She was hugely flattered to have been asked and is determined to nail the part… she is pretty confident in her own abilities," a source has said. "And although there's been talks of musicals, Mariah has always wanted to star in a play so this really is a dream come true."
While it remains to be seen whether London theatre-goers will be treated to the sounds of the talented songstress' vocals, Mariah is keeping busy on the music front with the release of her new single, Obsessed, this week
