International pop star Ed Sheeran's album x has just become the longest chart-topping album by a male solo artist since James Blunt.
The joint accolade is now held by British musicians Ed and James, whose album Back to Bedlam, held the number one spot for eight weeks in 2005.
It has also become the longest running record in the number one spot since Adele's 21 in 2011, which held the number one spot for 11 weeks.
The new record comes after the hit album also became the UKs fastest-selling album of the year.
x, which is pronounced multiply rather than the letter x, beat the previous record held by Coldplay's Ghost Stories.
