Simon Cowell: anti-'X Factor' campaign is 'hate mob'

Friday December 18, 2009

As the race for Christmas No 1 continues, X Factor boss Simon Cowell has spoken out about the campaign to get a Rage Against The Machine song to the top of the charts.

"If you take me out of the equation, you have a teenager with his first single being attacked by a huge hate mob on Facebook. It almost feels like a little kid being bullied.

"It's David versus Goliath and it's not fair on Joe. It's getting out of hand."

Although the sales gap between Joe McElderry and Rage Against The Machine has decreased, the American rock group is still on top.

This means that for the first time in five years, the winning X Factor act may miss out on the festive top spot.
