Clare Balding will be hosting a BBC1 entertainment show that seeks to find the country's sharpest mind.
The Olympics presenter will put the intellectual elite through their paces as she challenges 24 brainboxes to see who is the biggest egghead.
The show will take into account academic and emotional intelligence, and will be the first of its kind to do so. Contestants will also tackle puzzles and challenges live on the programme.
Hosting natural Clare has also stepped in to present comedy panel show Have I Got News For You, and will be taking over Aled Jones' Radio 2 slot presenting a Sunday morning faith show.
Clare said: "I have always said that 'facts are my friend', but knowing things doesn't make you clever.
"I am fascinated by the brain - how it works and how it can be improved. I am so excited to be given the opportunity to explore and test intelligence in a format that will be fun, informative and entertaining. The quest to find Britain's Brightest will inspire all of us."
Although the application process may have started, production firm RDF is still looking for more contestants for the show, which will be filmed at BBC's new MediaCityUK base in Salford.
