William and Kate will visit Australia and New Zealand in April 2014, palace officials have confirmed.
It is "anticipated" that their five-month-old son Prince George will accompany them but a final decision will be made "in due course".
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were invited on the trip to the Southern Hemisphere by the Australian and New Zealand governments.
"Further details on the exact dates and itinerary will be issued in due course," a statement from the palace read.
Royal watchers will be reminded of Prince Charles and Diana's visit with nine-month-old William to the two countries in 1983.
