Earl Spencer marries for third time in private ceremony

Monday June 20, 2011

Earl Spencer, the brother of the late Diana, Princess of Wales, tied the knot for the third time on Saturday to Canadian philanthropist Karen Gordon.

The pair were wed in a private civil ceremony followed by a blessing, surrounded only by close friends and family within the grounds of Althorp, where Diana is buried.

His nephews Prince William and Prince Harry were unable to attend due to work committments and a "long-standing private engagement" respectively.

The bride, 38, was radiant in a white fitted lace dress which, with a sweetheart neckline and lace sleeves, was reminiscent of the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding gown.

And 47-year-old Charles was dapper in a navy pinstripe suit.

Only one official shot was released from the private wedding, showing the couple posing in the at the Spencer family home, the bride holding a streaming bouquet of cream and white flowers.
