One is a 48-year-old singer from Scotland who shot to fame after a dazzling reality show audition. The other is a chart-topping former member of the one of the biggest boy bands of all time.
This winter Susan Boyle and Robbie Williams are going head to head in the race for the number one Christmas album spot.
For vocalist Robbie, hopes are resting on the reception of his latest work, Reality Killed The Radio Star.
It faces strong competition from Susan's I Dreamed A Dream which will be released in November.
But while the Brit Award-winning pinup has a loyal following of fans, pundits are anticipating he will not be able to match the phenomenon that is Susan.
"No contest, it is Susan Boyle," music commentator Paul Gambaccini said.
"This is not an insult to Robbie Williams, it's just that, bizarre as it sounds, Boyle is the new artist and the story of the year around the world."
"Susan Boyle has combined YouTube hits of 120 millions and even if only one in ten people buys her album, we are talking ridiculous numbers," he added.
